Me and my mother will be up there again next Friday especially for this. Hoping the weather is an improvement on this weekend!

Any announcements yet about what time it will all take place on Friday?

The building looks wonderful, I shall be visiting it some time in the near future I'm sure.

I was wondering though, are there any plans to install Wind turbines of any kind up there?

Seems like an obvious candidate for wind energy, considering the abundance of intense wind - as attested to by the building workforce :).

Are the wind speeds too high for a conventional wind energy solution? Or maybe the costs are too high?

I'm not an expert in the field, but I am a keen renewable energy spokesman. A wind turbine would pay for itself in the long term, and also possibly attract more visitors and tourists.

There may be some protest as to the "garish" appearance of such turbines, but Vertical-Axis Turbines are a solution to this; since less people feel these intrude on the landscape.

Could anyone give me any information on the second row of shutters above the small east-facing windows (pic.1)? As I recall in the design specifications, Hafod Eryri was supposed to allow a walker on the summit (or on any other path above the building) to be able to see through the building, down to Cwm Clogwyn. For this to happen, the second row of shutters should be opened to reveal windows for the "see-through" characteristic to happen.

But of course, in addition to the shutters, the sagging £50,000 (!) white material hung from the roof further damages the line of sight through the building.

Therefore, against the thoughts of the press and AMs, I do not believe Hafod Eryri fits in to the mountain if it blocks the view! In addition, I hope the Blaenau granite also weathers as the colour of the rock stands out from a mile away!

Don't take me wrong on the comments above, I do think that there was a need for a building, and it is definitely a majestic building, but there was room for something better for the 21st century!

Well what a perfect day! The wether was very benign considering what it could have been, like the week before. Good views, calm and not cold. It all went very smoothly and it was good to see that Rhodri Morgan walked up from Pen-y-Pass, he a was a few hundred yards behind us.

And the building looks magnificent inside!

A book would indeed be nice, a(nother) TV documentary would be good too (S4C already did one). A slot on CountryFile would be good (assuming there hasn't been one on the ones I've recorded but not yet watched). German public TV has a weekly program called Eisenbahn Romantik that picks up rail-related stories from around the world, maybe they'd be interested (you can get it in the UK via Astra analogue or via DVB-S).

Is there anything that can be done about "this blog is on hold because you're over your bandwidth limit" that has been frustratingly common this last few months eg this is the first time I've seen the June entry? I'd donate if I could.
