Thank you Ray. A book would indeed be nice, a(nother) TV documentary would be good too (S4C already did one). A slot on CountryFile would be good (assuming there hasn't been one on the ones I've recorded but not yet watched). German public TV has a weekly program called Eisenbahn Romantik that picks up rail-related stories from around the world, maybe they'd be interested (you can get it in the UK via Astra analogue or via DVB-S). Is there anything that can be done about "this blog is on hold because you're over your bandwidth limit" that has been frustratingly common this last few months eg this is the first time I've seen the June entry? I'd donate if I could.
